English Tuition in the UK... qualified teachers, modern methods, lots of fun

On the first morning of a course students take an entry test to ensure they are placed in the appropriate class.

We provide for all levels from beginners through intermediate to advanced. Our beginners level class assumes students have studied English for a minimum of one year, either at school or evening class. If a student is a complete beginner we recommend that they enrol on a Private intensive course before joining a group course.

Especially when teaching younger students, our teachers make sure that lessons are also a lot of fun.

This is why we only hire highly qualified teachers, whose mother tongue is English. Lessons are held in small groups; the maximum number of students in a class is 15 (group courses) or 4 (small group courses) respectively. Intensive courses are offered with one-to-one instruction.

Beginners I & II	1	Our classes for beginners are in meant for all those who have no previous knowlegde or only a very fundamental knowledge of English.
Intermediate I	2	This level is for students who have a basic knowledge of written English and who are able to understand basic sentences.
Intermediate II	3	Intermediate II is for students who understand everyday English and written English.
Advanced	4	This course is meant for people who are already very good in both written and spoken English but would like to further improve their abilities.
Intensive / Business	./.	Our intensive courses are personalized courses on a one-to-one basis.

If it turns out that a students has made particularly good progress, he or she can change classes during a course.

All lessons are held entirely in English, and all students get all books and materials they need - all they have to bring is a pen and paper.

In Northampton, Torquay and Edinburgh we offer 15 hours of tuition per week. Lessons take place in the mornings.between 09.00 -10.30 and 11.00 -12.30, Monday to Friday.

On the Short-term holiday courses and the Summer residential course in the UK, lessons are followed by afternoon activities and excursions.

Our Private intensive courses offer students the opportunity of either 15 or 25 hours of one-to-one tuition per week. These types of course enable students to work at their own pace. Progress is regularly monitored and particular attention is given to areas of weakness and specific needs. The Private intensive courses are especially suitable for those students who need to improve their English in as short a time as possible and have the flexibility of travel dates.

The Business English courses provide either 15 or 25 hours specialised tuition on a one-to-one basis per week. These courses are specifically aimed at students who need to use English in a business environment. Many aspects of English are covered with particular attention given to both formal and informal language used in business situations. Other areas covered are: using English on the telephone, writing business letters and faxes, selling your product, oral presentations, and meetings. Students with specific business requirements, or in a specialised business, have the opportunity to discuss these with their tutor.

It is assumed that students enrolling on a Business English course have a reasonable general knowledge of English, otherwise we would recommend first attending one of our Private intensive courses.

Our Long-term courses offer 21 hours of tuition in Oxford or 15 hours of tuition in Northampton per week. Students can enrol on our Long-term courses for any period from 4 - 12 weeks. Students wanting to take one of the Cambridge examinations with Oxford College of English must enrol on a Cambrige Certificate course and complete 10 - 12 weeks of study.

Please note that with the exception of one-to-one courses, lessons do not take place on British Public holidays. On Short-term holiday courses, however, we organise an activity or excursion on such days.
